What Is an AAAA Record?
An AAAA record is the IPv6 equivalent of an A record – it maps a hostname to an IPv6 address instead of an IPv4 one. A domain that supports IPv6 typically publishes both an A and an AAAA record at the same name, and dual-stack clients prefer the AAAA answer when both are available.
