Case Study
Turning a free scan into a signed contract
An embedded widget, a gated full report, and a real-time hot-prospect alert — from cold visitor to same-week sales call.
Illustrative scenario, not a specific verified customer — grounded in ActiScan's real capabilities and how MSPs typically use them. An MSP running outbound prospecting for its own managed-security services.

The situation
Cold outbound for an MSP's own security services is a hard sell — nobody wants to hear "your email security might have problems" from a vendor they've never talked to. The pitch lands a lot better when it starts with a specific, provable finding instead of a generic warning.
The problem was generating that specific finding at scale, for a prospect who's never heard of the MSP and isn't going to book a call just to find out.
What changed
The MSP enables the embeddable scan widget in Settings and drops the single <script> snippet onto their own marketing site and into a line in outbound email signatures. A visitor types their own domain in, and — with no login and no signup — sees a real grade and score immediately, run against the same checks that power ActiScan's own scans.
Getting the full per-check breakdown asks for a name and email first — the full result genuinely isn't sent to the browser until that form is submitted, so the teaser is a real hook, not a dead end. Every completed form lands on the Leads page: name, email, company, the domain they scanned, its grade, and a Low/Medium/High risk label, sorted hottest-risk-first so a High-risk prospect never gets buried under a week of Low-risk noise.
A High-risk (grade D or F) lead also fires an immediate Slack alert — a "hot prospect" ping the moment the form is submitted, not a daily digest. Where contact enrichment is on, a Find IT contacts button surfaces the actual IT decision-maker at that company, in case the form itself was filled in by someone else.
The outcome
A prospect who scanned their own domain out of curiosity turns into a Slack notification within seconds, and a sales rep who calls the same day already knows exactly what's broken — DMARC missing, SPF over the lookup limit, whatever the report actually found. The pitch isn't "you might have a problem"; it's "here's the specific problem, and here's what fixing it looks like."
Every captured lead pushes into HubSpot automatically as a contact (or any other CRM, via the generic webhook), so nothing sits only inside ActiScan waiting to be manually re-entered into the system sales actually works in.
Questions
Does a widget scan touch my own managed domain list?
No — it's a separate, rate-limited public check. A visitor scanning their domain through your widget never appears in or affects your own tenant's Domains list.
What does a visitor see before filling out the lead form?
Just their grade and score — enough to know something's worth looking into, not enough to see the specific findings. The full breakdown is genuinely gated behind the form, not just visually hidden.
Can I connect more than one alert channel for hot prospects?
Yes — Slack, Discord, and Microsoft Teams can all be connected at once, and a high-risk lead notifies every one that's set up.
